Our Mission

We intend to help fire chiefs, fire marshals, fire service officers and their attorneys prevent needless litigation. In the alternative, if litigation is unavoidable, we intend to help subscribers learn how other fire departments won in court - or avoid well intentioned mistakes that too often result in enormous liability.

In order to fulfill our mission, we provide fire service officers and their attorneys with important “lessons learned” from other cities and towns that have spent many millions of dollars in legal fees and lost many work hours dealing with legal problems related to the fire service. Many of the contentious issues you will encounter in the coming year will be similar in fact analysis to the ones we report and have been reporting for over twenty years. As a subscriber, you will have access to our entire database of cases in addition to your monthly issues and CD-ROM archives.

We report these cases in condensed, non-legalese format. We do not provide legal advice. Rather, we provide you and your attorney with a place to start your research on how to resolve situations that arise in your fire department which could have legal ramifications. We strongly urge that subscribers have access to competent, experience legal representation. We hope that the information provided by EDM Publishers, Inc will help our subscribers to avoid needless litigation; to succeed when defending against legal claims that become unavoidable; and to use the law to protect their communities, their departments, and themselves.

Laws and court decisions are frequently changed, challenged, or completely reversed. What you may read in this and other legal publications may not pertain to all jurisdictions, and may also have been superseded by new laws, more current court decisions, or different interpretations of applicable laws. Case laws and statutes change without notice. Thus, you should not rely on this or other legal services entirely, without first seeking advice from an attorney.

Our service to you will continue until you tell us that you wish to cancel. If you desire, we can time your subscription renewal notice to coincide with the last month of your subscription. We will send advance renewal notices prior to any price increases that may become necessary due to increased postage, production, or other costs. You are under no obligation to take any action on any of these regular renewal notices. We intend to EARN your repeated business, and hope that your subscription renewal, purchase of CD-ROM products, or general interest in our brand will indicate your satisfaction.

If for any reason you are not satisfied, in any way, please contact us so that we may resolve the situation in a manner that meets your expectations. Our contact information is listed on this website, through the “Contact Us” link in the left-hand side bar. Thank you for your business, and we look forward to serving you!
